go do this, now, to save yourself some hassles

My husband is the IT manager for a law firm, so he spends his days being as up to date as possible on the latest technology, viruses, malware, etcetcetc. Tech geek stuff that's over my head.

The cool thing, though, about the fact that he's way into technology is that when something pretty sketchy goes on, I know about it right away.  So here's my PSA for the month.

Right now, you all need to disable Java on your computers. You know that program that runs in web browsers and enables you to view certain things? Yeah. Stop reading this, and go read this link on how to disable it.   And then do it, because right now Java is seriously unsafe for people to be allowing access on their machines.

I just feel like when the Department of Homeland Security sends out an alert about a program, it's serious enough to listen.

Gotta go check on my lasagna now.   Happy Sunday.

Thanks for the heads up on Java. I hadn't heard of that yet. I've disabled it.

SOB. I have spent the last half hour clearing cache's and running cleaners on my PC to make Google work correctly. After the 3rd restart I flashed back to this post and remembered your advice. Woman, the hyperlink you provided guided me through disabling java on all 3 browsers and now Google/Chrome are working perfectly. Coincidence?! Doubt it. Thank you so, so much!

Is it just Java or Java(tm)?
